André & Michel Quenard Chignin Savoie Vieilles Vignes 2020
André & Michel Quenard Chignin Savoie Vieilles Vignes 2020
The Savoie is a picture of fairy-tale perfection: snow-capped peaks, rolling hills, and sparkling mountain streams. This idyllic region is where Michel Quenard farms twenty-two hectares of vineyards along the steep slopes around Chignin. The domaine was started in the 1930s by Michel's grandfather. Though he slowly increased his vineyard holdings, he mostly sold off his wine. It wasn’t until 1960 that Michel’s father, André, began bottling under their own label. Michel joined the domaine in 1976. Today, he is joined by his sons, Guillaume and Romain.
The 2020 vintage of the Quenard Vieilles Vignes Chignin Savoie is produced with Jaqcuere from 60 year old vines with a 90+ year old parcel originally planted in 1930. It is a crisp white wine with an intense minerality. Delightfully fruity nose with aromas of peach, citrus, and nectarine with a dusting of minerals. The same succulent fruits flow through the palate, backed by bright acidity.
