Established in 1815, Ardbeg is revered by connoisseurs around the world as among the peatiest and smokiest, yet most complex, of all the Islay malts. Despite its smokiness, Ardbeg is renowned for its delicious sweetness, a phenomenon that has affectionately become known as ‘the peaty paradox’. Ardbeg has been called “as close to perfection as makes no difference,” by whisky connoisseurs. Proof then, that Ardbeg truly deserves its incredible reputation. It’s a whisky that’s worshipped around the world. In the past ten years, six different Ardbeg expressions have won prestigious titles including World Whisky of the Year, Scotch Whisky of the Year and World’s Best Single Malt.

Ardbeg HEAVY VAPOURS is the most FULL-BLOWN Ardbeg ever! Traditionally, during production the purifier catches the heaviest vapours which means that Ardbeg is not just “all peat” but gets a supremely balanced taste. For the release of this batch the purifier was removed from the distillation process before being matured in classic Ardbeg casks. And this whisky is the consequence. Heavy Vapours have risen, making this dram the most full-blown Ardbeg ever. Ardbeg wash distilled without the purifier & matured in classic Ardbeg casks.

Intense, pungent & aromatic, with a distinctive farmyard aroma, along with a crunchy aroma, like creosote or tarry rope. The smoke is all dominating, but has a slightly sweet edge to it, almost like dark chocolate. A splash of water opens the bouquet, with some dark chocolate cream, and a hint of smoked artichoke. The mouthfeel is spicy/warming, with an initial burst of bittersweet flavours –coal dust, cardamon, peppermint, eucalyptus, and more dark chocolate with some coffee grits. In the background there are some old-fashioned boiled sweets, like aniseed twists, cinnamon balls, and antiseptic lozenges. The aftertaste lingers long and bold with an ongoing, almost anaesthetising sensation.
