Volnay has long been celebrated for its perfume, finesse, and silken texture, qualities that Benjamin Leroux captures with precision and quiet authority. Drawn from old-vine parcels in Les Grands Poisots and Les Petits Poisots, with a touch of Premier Cru fruit, the 2023 release reflects both elegance and depth. These sites, planted on a mosaic of clay and limestone, unite the supple fruit of the lower slopes with the lifted minerality of higher, rockier soils.

In the glass, it opens with aromas of wild cherry, violet, and raspberry, layered with sweet spice and subtle earthy tones. The palate is refined yet quietly powerful, with a core of ripe red fruit framed by lively acidity and the chalky grip characteristic of Volnay. Satin-smooth in texture, it finishes long and graceful.

Élevage took place in large-format barrels and seasoned pièces, with around 15–20% new oak for gentle structure rather than overt flavour. Benjamin Leroux’s 2023 Volnay is elegant and complete, expressive in its youth yet built to age gracefully over the next decade.
