Bremerton Walter's Reserve Cabernet 2019

Established in 1988 Bremerton was the first winery in Australia to be run by sisters. Apart from the Fiano all the wines are vegan friendly. It truly is a family affair with all the wines named after family members and both the Willson sisters being married to winemakers.  Bec Willson has championed the growing of alternate varieties in LC such as Graciano, Vermentino and Fiano. A 5 star winery in Halliday’s Wine Companion 12 years in a row, Bec is a past Winemaker of the Year finalist with both Winestate and Gourmet Traveller Wine. 

The 2019 Walter’s Reserve Cabernet is a powerful yet elegant wine, showing gorgeous varietal notes of blackberry, bramble and earth, complemented by subtle influences of chocolate and savoury nuances. The wine is supported by a fine, defining, elegant tannin structure and shows spice and complexity from the careful use of new French oak. This wine is very secretive as it takes its time to reveal itself, a powerful wine that will not only evolve in the glass but will reward you with patience in the cellar.

Deep, bright and bold red-purple colour with a lifted peppermint/herbal/minty bouquet that is still fresh and quite primary. Blackcurrant in the background. The first taste reveals sharp acidity on the tip of the tongue, then a wash of rather astringent tannins.
