Chateau Musar Gaston Hochar Red 1995
Chateau Musar Gaston Hochar Red 1995
Founded by Gaston Hochar in 1930, Chateau Musar lies in a 17th century Mzar castle in Ghazir, just North of Beruit overlooking the Mediterranean sea. One of the great wines of the world Chateau Musar has been run by Gaston's sons, Serge (who studied winemaking under the great Emile Peynaud at the University of Bordeaux) and Ronald since 1959.
The Chateau Musar Red 1995 has indeed proved to be a great vintage - a very important wine with immense power and concentration of fruit. One third each of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault and Carignan were blended in the third year following the harvest and it was bottled in July and August 1998.
This wine has the colour of brick-garnet with brick edges. Flowery aromas with mature, high character, elegant, totally open, magnificent—fairly screams “great Musar”. The palate is rich, fruity, well balanced, well knit, high character with some mature sweetness, silky, elegant. Aftertaste like the middle, some (resolved) tannin/oak after 20 seconds, perfectly developed fruit. A great wine.
