Craggy Range Kidnappers Chardonnay 2021
Craggy Range Kidnappers Chardonnay 2021
Craggy Range is a family owned winery established in 1997, and situated in the shadow of the spectacular Te Mata Peak in the premium wine growing area of Hawke’s Bay New Zealand. Craggy Range produces a collection of iconic wines from grapes grown on exceptional estates in Hawke’s Bay, Martinborough, and Marlborough, with an unrelenting focus on quality. From the stony, warm soils of the Gimblett Gravels in Hawke's Bay to the volcanic, clay soils of Te Muna Road in Martinborough, these exceptional vineyards produce wines with amazing aromatics, purity and complexity.
Craggy Range Kidnappers Chardonnay 2021 was produced using 70% whole bunch, 30% destemmed fruit. Then fermented in a combination of French oak puncheon, foudre and stainless steel tanks.
This wine is pale lime to pale straw in colour. Instantly you are reminded of the coastal nature of this vineyard, with aromas of oyster shell, sea spray and cashew all present in the bouquet. Overall, the mouth feels vibrant and fresh, with lively acidity, but not at the expense of flavour. Fresh lemon curd and supple oak round out a palate that is as delicious as it is refreshing.
