Product Description
Ravera is widely regarded as the most important single vineyard in the Comune di Novello, and one of the most geologically complex sites in all of Barolo. G.D. Vajra's parcels occupy the southern amphitheatre of this celebrated cru, between 300 and 380 metres above sea level, on a subsoil where Tortonian marls intermix with Serravallian sandstones and iron-rich clay layers. It is this complexity beneath the surface that gives Ravera its defining character: deep, textured and savoury, with a mineral intensity that no amount of winemaking can manufacture.

The 2020 vintage brought warmth and structural generosity across Piedmont. At Ravera, the combination of concentrated fruit and the vineyard's naturally firm tannin architecture produced a wine of considerable depth and definition. Vinification followed the estate's traditional approach: extended maceration under a submerged cap, spontaneous malolactic conversion, and 22 months of maturation in large Slavonian oak casks before bottling.

Tasting Notes
NOSE
- Noble and layered
Dark cherry, blood orange and iron-tinged earth open the bouquet, followed by purple flowers, tobacco, cedar and a thread of liquorice. The Ravera hallmark of depth and almost sanguine complexity is fully present.

PALATE
- Powerful and textured
Broad, finely structured tannins carry juicy dark fruit with real intensity. Sweet spice and aromatic herbs bring energy, while the vineyard's characteristic saline mineral note runs through the mid-palate with quiet persistence.

FINISH
- Long, savoury and enduring
