Grosset Wines is an independently owned winery, producing seven highly regarded premium wines each vintage. Remaining small and focused has allowed Grosset to preserve the character and individuality of the wines, developing a significant international profile by producing wines deemed consistently outstanding - benchmarks in their class.

Grosset Wines' philosophy has remained steadfast for over thirty years. The emphasis is on purity of fruit. The estate vineyards, which are ACO certified organic, are hand-tended and each bunch of grapes is harvested at optimum ripeness. The winemaking process is gentle and uncomplicated. With dedication, discipline and the application of knowledge garnered through decades of experience, the result is the finest expression of variety and place.

Brooding briary, brambly, black cherry and blackcurrant aromas. On the palate these are ripe, lively and fine, well-balanced, powerful yet restrained. The wine has a muscular spine yet is less tight than in most vintages with substantial yet restrained tannins. So while it is potent, the 2017 ‘Gaia’ is characterised by balance and finesse.

Grace, effortless confidence and refinement are exuded by Gaia and exemplified in 2017. Its high, bony, exposed site nurtures Cabernet of crunchy pop, perfumed fragrance and small-berry concentration, exactingly crafted with stunning harmony, delightful acid integration and tannins at once paper fine and yet enduringly confident. This is the essence of Cabernet and evidence that the legendary Jeffrey Grosset is king of more than just Riesling. - Tyson Stelzer, 97 Points.

Gaia demands attention and respect in equal measure. Do take time to admire its balance of savouriness to fruit, it’s calmness and class. Expect pomegranate and boysenberries with dabs of licorice, rolled tobacco and cedary oak with a touch of green walnut. Medium-bodied and the plush yet textured tannins render the wine ready for immediate drinking, but will reward those who wait. - Jane Faulkner, Halliday Wine Companion, 96 Points.
