Product Description
The Izway Harold Shiraz 2023 is a striking, cool-climate Shiraz from the Northern Eden Valley’s Moculta sub-region, showcasing the distinctiveness of this single-hectare vineyard. This wine takes inspiration from a beloved family tradition and honours its namesake, Harold, an old fishing rod that’s been with the family for decades. Much like the rod, this wine is bold, intriguing, and full of character—offering a unique expression of the Eden Valley terroir. A true testament to the cool vintage conditions, this wine has developed impressive depth and complexity, with powerful aromas, spice-laden tannins, and fruit-forward elegance. It is a wine of both intensity and finesse, destined for long-term aging.

Izway Harold Shiraz 2023 is a wine that speaks to the rich history of the Barossa and the unique expression of the Eden Valley. With its bold, complex character, it’s a wine that will continue to evolve and improve in the cellar for years to come. Whether enjoyed now or aged, this wine is a true reflection of the terroir and the family tradition behind it.

Drink now or cellar for 10-20 years.
Ideal with roasted meats, venison, grilled lamb, or dishes featuring rich spices. Perfectly complements hearty, flavourful dishes.

Maker:

Izway Wines is a family-owned winery that has evolved from humble beginnings into a respected producer in the Barossa Valley. Founded by Chris and Brian Conway after a chance encounter in France in 2002, Izway began with a single barrel of Shiraz sourced from the renowned Ebenezer sub-region. Over the years, the winery has grown steadily and organically, focusing on creating wines that authentically express the character of their environment. In 2015, Izway Wines built a state-of-the-art, off-grid winery in Seppeltsfield, designed with sustainability in mind. Today, alongside Chris's wife Kathryn, who is also the General Manager, Izway continues to craft wines with a deep respect for traditional winemaking methods, such as basket pressing and natural fermentation, ensuring each wine is expressive, distinctive, and true to its Barossa Valley roots.

Philosophy:

Izway Wines is committed to producing wines that genuinely reflect the land and growing conditions of each season. With a focus on authenticity and simplicity, the winery follows a minimal-intervention approach to winemaking, allowing the terroir to speak for itself. Located in the sun-soaked Barossa Valley, Izway benefits from access to old vines that thrive in the region’s warm climate. The winery’s philosophy centres on sustainability, with its modern off-grid facility designed to operate in harmony with the environment. Rather than relying on traditional marketing methods such as wine shows or media promotions, Izway prefers to build its brand through personal connections and a shared passion for great wine. Each bottle of Izway wine represents the legacy of a small, family-owned winery dedicated to producing wines of exceptional quality and character, making it a true expression of the Barossa Valley.
