Product Description:
Depth, heritage and Barossa intensity define the 2023 Langmeil Orphan Bank Shiraz, a wine that honours one of the region’s most historic vineyard sites. The name “Orphan Bank” refers to a vineyard originally planted in 1860 on the banks of the North Para River near Tanunda. Over time the vineyard passed through several owners before eventually being abandoned, earning its “orphan” nickname until Langmeil revived the site and restored its reputation. Fruit for this wine is sourced from old-vine Shiraz parcels across the Barossa Valley, selected for their concentration and expressive regional character.

The 2023 vintage highlights the Barossa’s ability to produce powerful yet balanced Shiraz, with ripe fruit supported by freshness and structure. In the glass the wine reveals a deep crimson colour and an aromatic profile that combines dark fruit with spice and savoury nuance. The palate is rich and generous, framed by fine tannins and subtle oak that adds texture without dominating the fruit. Careful maturation in French oak enhances complexity while maintaining the wine’s vibrant core. The result is a classic Barossa Shiraz that balances power with polish, offering both immediate appeal and excellent cellaring potential.
