Mountain Culture Status Quo Pale Ale (4 Pack)
Mountain Culture Status Quo Pale Ale (4 Pack)
Mountain Culture is a popular brewery located in the beautiful Blue Mountains of New South Wales, Australia. It was established in 2019 by a group of friends who were passionate about craft beer and wanted to create a relaxed, welcoming space in which to enjoy it. The building in which Mountain Culture now resides has had a rich history. It was built in 1912 in Katoomba and, for many years, was home to the local paper, 'The Echo'. It later purportedly served as a "dancing saloon and home for lost or belated drunks" before eventually morphing into a Civic Video store. In 2017, DJ and Harriet McCready transformed the dilapidated building into the first brewpub in the Blue Mountains after 18 months of careful renovation. The goal was simple: welcoming people from all over to come in and have a beer. But not just any beer! At Mountain Culture, they hold themselves accountable to a standard that means they are constantly pushing the limit to figure out how they can brew a better beer every batch. Since the delivery of their first batch in 2019, Mountain Culture has been a mecca for beer lovers seeking the ultimate beer experience. The beautifully restored building is not only an excellent example of "inter-war free-classical" architecture but also a tangible representation of the dream to create a brewery that serves beer for the adventurous. To ensure that the beer is of the highest quality, the brewery uses a 12-hectolitre Premier stainless system customised to enable decoction mashing.
New England Pale Ale, also known as NEPA, is a beer style that has gained a considerable following in recent years. It is a cousin of the more popular IPA or India Pale Ale, but with a distinctively hazy appearance, big tropical fruit and juicy hop flavour. The style originated in Vermont in the 1990s when brewers started adding wheat and oats to their pale ales to give them a hazy appearance and a smooth mouthfeel. By the early 2000s, breweries in Massachusetts were taking this idea to new heights and launching their variations of this beer style. New England Pale Ale's hazy appearance is due to the liberal use of malted oats, unmalted wheat and barley in the brewing process, which does not filter out remnants from the brewing process. This allows for more of the essential oils from the hops to remain in the beer, creating a distinct flavour profile. One of the most notable characteristics of NEPA is its intense hop aroma and flavour. Typically, brewers use a combination of several hop varieties throughout the brewing process, adding them in the wort, fermenting in the secondary fermenter, or dry hopping at the end. These hops give a tropical fruit and citrus aroma with a low bitterness taste. New England Pale Ale is a modernized version of an American Pale Ale that has gained mass appeal and is frequently found at breweries across the country. With its hazy appearance, juicy hop flavour and tropical fruit aroma, it is the perfect beer for those who want a delightful experience of a modern beer style.
