Founded by Francesco Peroni, who discovered the with an ideal climate and pristine glacial water, in Vigevano, Italy. Peroni crafted a distinctive, pale, and zestful beer that quickly gained recognition. By 1864, the brewery expanded to Rome under Giovanni Peroni's leadership, quickly becoming Italy's largest by the 1930s. By1963, Carlo Peroni introduced Peroni Nastro Azzurro, a super-premium lager epitomising Italian passion and style during years of La Dolce Vita. More recently in 2021, Peroni Nastro Azzurro 0.0% partnered with the Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One Team, uniting two icons of style while appealing to a growing demand for non-alcohol that doesn't compromise on taste.
Process:
One of the key ingredients to Peroni beer is Nostrano dell’Isola maize. Hailing from the small town of Bergamo in northern Italy, this particular variety of maize grows within a fertile plain known locally as “the island between the earth” – a stretch of land that sits between the Adda and Brembo rivers. Its unique position provides the perfect conditions for growing maize: little frost with soil irrigated by freshly melted snow from the nearby Alps. Nostrano dell’Isola gives Peroni beer a distinct clarity and a light, golden colour reminiscent of prosecco.
Following a generation recipe, Peroni uses two different kinds of hops: Saaz-Saaz and Hallertau Magnum. These varieties offer a subtle, yet captivating citrus aroma with a light finish. In combination with the hops and Italian maize, Peroni’s two-row spring barley is the secret to the beer’s unique crisp and refreshing taste. Quality of water is key too. Peroni continues to use pure “soft” glacial water that is low in carbonates for that smooth taste.
