Maison Perrier-Jouët was born in 1811, one year after the marriage of Pierre-Nicolas Perrier and Rose-Adélaide Jouët, two passionate and entrepreneurial champagne lovers with a thirst for success. With a definitive eye for detail they began cultivating vines and quickly realised the potential for Chardonnay in the Côte des Blancs.

Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque is an icon of the House. Produced only in years when, in the judgment of Cellar Master, the seasons have aligned perfectly, it is a captivating demonstration, not only of the art of blending, but also of the exceptional quality of the Perrier-Jouët vineyard. Testifying to the rarity of this cuvée, less than 30 vintages of Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque have been produced to date. First appearing in 1964 and instantly recognisable throughout the world, its bottle is adorned with the graceful spray of Japanese white anemones created for Maison Perrier-Jouët by Art Nouveau master Emile Gallé in 1902.

Perrier-Jouët Belle Époque is a true icon — a rare and elegant champagne that celebrates the art of vintage and the excellence of the Perrier-Jouët vineyard. - Severine Frerson,  Maison Perrier-Jouët Cellar Master

The 2011 vintage is pale, translucent gold colour in the glass with radiant clarity and sublet hints of apple green. Distinctive aromas of white flowers combine with crisp pears, lemon, and white peaches. Freshness prevails on the palate, releasing a beautiful harmony.

Always a light, ethereal style of wine, this is also very fresh and still young. It will age with its taut minerality from the Chardonnay in the blend. A softer background will become toasty over the next few years. The vintage date on this bottle is 200 years after the foundation of this producer. Drink from 2021. - Wine Enthusiast, 94 Points
