Terre à Terre Crayères Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2019
Terre à Terre Crayères Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2019
The Terre à Terre Crayères Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2019 vintage is the 11th release of this Aussie classic from this vineyard. The fruit was hand harvested from their close spaced Crayères Vineyard. It is whole bunch pressed before being fermented in large oak demi-muids. The low yields of the 2019 vintage have brought this already classic example of Sauvignon Blanc to a new level of class
Since its first vintage in 2008, vigneron Xavier Bizot has gone against the “new world Sauvignon Blanc” grain, with rigorous vineyard work, tiny yields, hand-picking and full barrel fermentation in six old 600L French oak demi-muids (Vosges and Allier). Aged for eight months on full lees with no bâttonage, then racked to stainless steel for a month to settle before bottling, “the result is very complex, but the fruit is undaunted, with layers of lemon curd, citrus and a whisper of honey” - James Halliday, Halliday Wine Companion 2022, Best Sauvignon Blanc in Australia
